The barns were converted in the 1970s and has been a wonderful family home to our vendors for the past 20 years. The shared courtyard provides plenty of private parking and there's a car port.
The property can be entered via either the double doors leading into the snug or through the main front door. The front door opens into the welcoming hallway with a lovely flagstone floor.
To the right is the large main reception room, it is dual aspect and has French doors opening directly out to the patio and private garden. It is a delightful space as it gets so much light from the large windows. Timber beams, lintels and the wooden flooring really add to the character, as does the feature fireplace.
Off the hall is a downstairs shower room and part-utility. Adjacent to a ground floor room, currently used as a bedroom three, but could be repurposed for use as a formal dining room. It looks out across the rear garden and has wooden flooring plus a built-in storage cupboard.
To your left is the large country kitchen and snug. The kitchen is an amazing space, with a high ceiling and feature window that floods the room with light. French doors open out to the patio and garden making it perfect for entertaining. The flagstone flooring, exposed brickwork, country style units and solid wood work surfaces give it a rustic feel. Adding to the charm is a Range-style cooker and Belfast sink. There is space for a dishwasher, a large free standing fridge freezer and a breakfast table and chairs.
Stairs lead from the snug to bedroom four. The snug and the room above were originally a second car port but the vendors cleverly converted it.
The main stairs lead to a landing where there is an airing cupboard, family bathroom and two bedrooms.
The main bedroom is a generous dual aspect double with a bank of three built-in double wardrobes. Bedroom two which overlooks the rear garden is currently being used as an office.
Stairs rise to the converted attic space, which is bedroom five. This is ideal for older children and teenagers.
The lovely L-shaped garden is completely private and not overlooked. A mixture of lawn, paved and shingle - it is the perfect outdoor/indoor entertaining space.
In 2000, the then residents of the village bought a field slightly up from Thornfield on behalf of the village. So now the village owns it and it’s rather like a shared communal area. There’s an orchard, a playing field with seating and every year the village throws a large party for everyone.
Not all car ports in the lead photo belong to the property; everything south of the Velux window belongs to someone else.
